Mt. Zion Awards $55,000 to Local Community Organizations
NASHVILLE, Tenn., Aug. 16, 2024 –Expanding its local reach to support academic growth, leadership formation, and access to educational resources within the Nashville community, Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Nashville will award eleven Nashville organizations a total of $55,000. Through this funding, the Church will partner with the eleven Nashville organizations to support programs and resources that provide academic growth, athletic opportunities and attendance resources for students. Each organization will receive an award of $5,000 from the Church.
“We are proud to announce this year’s awardees and greatly look forward to supporting them as they work to help our community,” Senior Pastor of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Bishop Joseph Walker III said.
The official check presentation will take place on Sunday, Aug. 25 at 7594 Old Hickory Blvd., Whites Creek, TN 37189 at 11:15 a.m. The following organizations will receive a $5,000 award from the Church:
- Antioch High School
- Cane Ridge High School
- John Overton High School
- Maplewood High School
- Whites Creek High School
- Robert Churchwell Elementary School
- Wright Middle School
- McKissack Middle School
- Brick Church Middle School
- Girls Scouts of America
- Back Field in Motion
Launched in 2012, Mt. Zion Baptist Church established a ministry educational partnership award with two Metro Nashville Public Schools. Nearly 12 years later, Mt. Zion has expanded this program to include eleven organizations across the Nashville community.
“Working collaboratively in the Nashville community allows us to have a much broader impact beyond our Church that will lead to strengthening systems and resources in our communities needed to benefit our youth,” Bishop Walker expressed. “We are profoundly grateful to continue to be a resource that allows us to pour generously into our community.”
