College Sunday 2024
The college ministry at Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Nashville represents the heart and soul of the historic church. Started in the early 1990’s, Mt. Zion’s College Ministry has grown to become one of the most recognizable ministries in the Nashville area.
The Mt. Zion College Ministry seeks to provide a positive environment where students will not only excel academically but also spiritually. We are committed to working, worshiping and witnessing.
Each year, Mt. Zion Baptist Church hosts a special Sunday dedicated to celebrating our college students and their achievements. This is a day to rep your school, fellowship, and worship collectively.
This year “OCCUPY the YARD” is our rallying call for students attending colleges and universities around Nashville to deploy their unique gifts and callings as ambassadors of Jesus to their campuses, student organizations, sororities, and fraternities. This initiative, grounded in the biblical charge from Luke 19:13 to ‘OCCUPY until I come,’ encourages us to permeate every aspect of our lives with the presence of Jesus, extending beyond just our spiritual walk.

If you’re a talented vocalist or dancer, consider signing up to participate in our Unite College Choir and Adoration Dance Ministry.
God has blessed us with a plethora and skills and talents to use to magnify his kingdom. Mt. Zion’s College Ministry offers the perfect platform to showcase your skills and talents while connecting with a group of like-minded Christians.
Rehearsals will take place on the following dates:
- September 8th and 22nd
- October 13th and 27th
- November 3rd and 9th

COLLEGE SUNDAY SCHOLARSHIP
Scholarships remain a crucial and important source of financial assistance for college students. Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Nashville officially launched our scholarship program in 2016 with $5,000 in total funding. In 2024 that number has nearly quadrupled in size, providing hundreds of local students with scholarship money to pursue their dreams.
This year we are continuing our tradition of supporting higher education, with our annual College Sunday Scholarship.
Who Can Apply?
College level students currently enrolled in an accredited college or university.
How to Apply?

- Submit a 90-second video answering the following question
- “How do you plan to occupy space in the world through your education and giftings?”
- Complete and submit your video by September 30, 2024 11:59 P.M.
